Twila Moon
Dr. Twila Moon is Deputy Lead Scientist for the National Snow and Ice Data Center and Climate Science Engagement Lead for the Center for Education, Engagement, and Evaluation, both part of the University of Colorado Boulder’s Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES), a global leader in Earth science. Twila’s pioneering Greenland Ice Sheet and Arctic systems science research examines connections across ice, ocean, ecosystem, and society. Her research has been published on the cover of Science and Nature, to which she’s also contributed invited perspectives, and received global media attention such as the BBC and Associated Press. Twila has testified for the U.S. Congress; is a lead editor for the Arctic Report Card, NOAA’s highest impact annual report; serves on the U.S. National Academies Polar Research Board; and is a sought-after speaker, trainer, and media contact who is skilled in connecting climate dots for business, policy, finance/philanthropy, and media. After completing degrees at Stanford and the University of Washington, she received NSF and CIRES Postdoctoral Fellowships for work at the University of Oregon and University of Colorado and held a Lectureship at the University of Bristol (UK). She returned to CIRES in 2017.
